This resource contains a set of 26 uppercase letters containing 2D shapes. Alphabet mats for each letter with pictures beginning with the letter sound. If you are teaching or have taught uppercase letters and 2D shapes, here are some extra resources for your pupils to colour in and/or cut out and stick into their workbooks or on a separate sheet of paper. The letters are on whole pages in two sizes - A4 and 8.5 x 11". Suggested Uses: Children colour in the shapes and the background and then they can draw things beginning with that letter. Children colour in the shapes only and then cut around the letter and stick into their workbook. You could cut out the letter and stick into their workbooks or on a separate sheet of paper with handwriting guidelines for children to practise writing the letter and then colour in. Extension: after colouring in the letter, children can list the shapes they see and the more able can put them into ABC order. Laminate the upper case alphabet mats for children to use playdough to model the letters. 2D Shapes: square, circle, triangle, oval, rectangle, diamond, star, heart, crescent, pentagon and trapezium or trapezoid. In this All About Me/You resource the questions are set in hexagonal tiles for children to complete. There are 3 types of activities. Content: Teacher Notes Worksheet 1 - 6 tiles with questions and children draw a picture of themselves in the middle. (UK and US spelling). Worksheet 2(Easier) (x4) - These worksheets consist of 3 questions on each page with red borders and children answer the questions inside hexagons with blue borders. The last tile always requires children to draw a picture of: themselves, a toy, what they are good at, an animal they would like to be. Worksheet 3 - Children trace over the sentences and finish them off in their own words. Lastly, they draw a picture in each of the three hexagons. This product relates to alphabet uppercase and lowercase letters and pictures beginning with letters of alphabet and displays for classroom. Aa to Zz friezes (labeled and unlabeled pictures). Laminate and punch holes and thread through with a string to hang around the classroom or peg onto a washing line across a wall. Aa – Zz word strips and related pictures Laminate and cut out and place in resource center Students trace over the initial dotted letter with dry-wipe pen Alphabet cards Alphabet cards to be printed off as many times as you require, laminate and cut out. students can play alphabet snap. Match up - Match lower case letters to upper case letters. Other games – lay out 4 or 5 letters in alphabetical order, e.g. k, l, m, n, o, cover them over. Take a letter away without the students seeing and ask which letter is missing. Practice writing frames using Sassoon dotted font These are in upper and lower cases. Each one should be laminated. After focussing on e.g. ‘t’, students can practice writing over the dots and then without the dots on the line. Alphabet Mat Practice (trace over dotted letters) Copy and laminate Students can keep it in their own trays Alphabet Mat Can be laminated and blu tac to the wall in the writing/reading/book corner. Can be used to assess a student’s phonic progress - name and sound out the letters Alphabet Pictures Games The pictures represent the start of a letter e.g. ‘g’ for grasshopper. The pictures are not in alphabetical order so students have to look for the picture that begins with that letter. Enlarge the A4 size sheet to A3 and the sheet with the alphabet. Laminate the Alphabet Pictures sheet Laminate the Alphabet sheet then cut out each letter tile for use with Alphabet Pictures. Students can play in pairs. A timer can be set to make the game more fun. A student asks his/her partner to find the picture beginning with ‘s’. This product contains worksheets relating to pairs of matching onset and rime CVC words. A lovely addition to your phonics lesson to support phonic work. It consists of 2 sets of 54 worksheets together with picture and word cards in color and black and white. Teacher’s Notes included for suggested activities. Students look at the picture and say what it is. Then they color in the letters that make that word. When they have colored in the letter, the children rearrange them to spell the word and write it on the handwriting guide line. If some students get stuck, I have included word cards with the same pictures which you can put in the middle of the table for the students to find that matching picture that is also on the worksheet. UPDATED with two trace and write sentences worksheets for the more able students. This product contains a set of worksheets relating to CVC phonics work. Students practise reading, writing and drawing CVC words. The worksheets can be used as assessment to check on the progress of individuals and so the worksheets are ideal for small group work. Teacher Notes included. The worksheets are: • Read and Write (3 Worksheets) Sight words: I, can, see and a. Students complete each sentence with a missing word using the picture as a visual aid. When they have used the word, they tick the box below the picture. The students can colour in when they have finished. • Read and Draw (7 Worksheets) Students read the CVC word by sounding out and blending and then draw the picture that represents the word. They can trace inside the letters with a pencil or with different colour pencils to make rainbow words. As an extension activity for the more able students, they can use sight words they know to write a sentence using each word on the worksheet below the picture, on whiteboards or into their workbooks. • Read and Trace (4 Worksheets) These worksheets can be used as guided reading in a small group setting or one-to-one teaching.
